Welcome World
Tiger Flowers Commemoration

Announcement
Welcome to the Tiger Flowers Centennial Celebration | 1926-2026
Part of TFM’s Series: Boxing Champions in Black and White: 1890-1929
Welcome, indeed. I’m Dan Perkins, founder of TFM | TRIPLE FIGHT MUSEUM.
At THE TRIPLE FIGHT MUSEUM, we study things that matter: moments, people, places, and events that reflect struggles in the ring (boxing), struggles among nations (wars), and struggles for equality and justice from 1890 through 1929 in America and beyond.
Throughout 2026, TFM is commemorating two important events from the boxing world of 1926: Tiger Flowers becoming the first African American to win the world middleweight championship after defeating Harry Greb, and Greb’s untimely death later that October. I am pleased to announce that TFM’s first Centennial Commemoration presentation, It Took a TIGER to Fracture Boxing’s Color Line, opens on July 1, 2026. Your interest in the presentation makes you an important participant in our commemoration. Thank you.
Coming July 1, 2026

I invite you to explore upcoming presentations detailing Tiger Flowers’ experiences in and out of the ring during the 1920s. Then reflect upon what those experiences reveal about the broader human pursuit of excellence, opportunity, and justice, then and now. Join us in our centennial commemoration—share your thoughts, ask questions, and help us illuminate the significance of this historic figure and the transformation he helped achieve, as well as the other transformations he inspired.
How did two fighters whose careers unfolded in largely separate boxing worlds ultimately meet for the middleweight championship in 1926?
